AN ORDINANCE—No. 05-2000-01
TO AMEND THE WALKER TOWN CODE EXTENDING THE TERM OF THE CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM FRANCHISE
HELD BY COMMUNICATIONS CENTRAL I, INC., FOR A PERIOD OF NINETY (90) DAYS AND AMENDING
THE TERMS THEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Walker, Louisiana,
now acting as the governing authority of said Town, in legal session convened that:
WHEREAS, Communications Central I, Inc. d/b/a Cox Communications Baton Rouge ("Grantee"),
successor-in-interest to Communication Services, Inc. d/b/a TCI of Louisiana (the
"Town") pursuant to a franchise granted by the Town of Walker (the "Franchise");
WHEREAS, the term of the Franchise expires April 1, 2000;
WHEREAS, Grantee has submitted a timely request for renewal of the Franchise and pursuant
to such request has invoked the provisions of 626 of the Communications Act (47 U.S.C.
546) as amended;
WHEREAS, Grantee and the Town are currently in the Franchise renewal process; and
WHEREAS, the Town deems it to be in the best interest of the Town to extend the current
Franchise for a period of 90 days to enable the Town and Grantee to complete the negotiation
of a renewal franchise agreement, provided the parties continue to abide by the terms
and conditions of the existing Franchise during such 90-day extension, except as such
Franchise may be amended as set forth below, and provided, further, that neither party
is otherwise prejudiced by the extension.
